Columbia Engineering was selected by the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) and Aronov Realty to provide engineering services for the widening of SR 53 and relocation of Jeff Road in Harvest, Madison County, Alabama. Deliverables included Final Construction Plans, cost estimate, and bid tab. This project consisted of a public/private partnership between ALDOT and Aronov Realty to provide better coordination between the transportation improvements led and new commercial subdivision being developed by Aronov Realty. The project was fast tracked as a result of an abbreviated letting schedule established by ALDOT to meet the conditions of the public-private cost-share agreement. As a result approximately two (2) years were shaved off the construction start date. |
The project involved widening of approximately 1400’ of S.R. 53 (urban and rural typical sections) from existing two-lanes to four-lanes with a 14’ flush median and the relocation of approximately 2000’ of two-lane Jeff Road (rural typical). The project included a 8’x4’ reinforced concrete box culvert, a signal at the new location of Jeff Road with SR 53 and approximately 2,000 LF of a storm drainage systems which included urban catch basin and pipe systems and roadside ditches along SR 53 and Jeff Road. Work was within budget, on schedule and met all key objectives for this fast-tracked project in order to expedite construction.
